Methodology

Methodology: average AI cost per employee

This series divides each month's attributed AI tool spend by the number of attributed employees with either AI spend or code output in that same month. The numerator comes from tool billing and usage telemetry, summed after casting costs to dollars.

Employees without an account identifier are excluded from the employee denominator. Unattributed spend remains outside this average so the metric reflects employee-level usage rather than organization-level billing imports.

The published window runs from January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Two organizations are excluded consistently with the source dashboard's publication rules.
